Stories of Hope · Blood Donor Stories

30 minutes of their time.
A lifetime of difference for someone they will never meet.

Blood donors rarely know who received their donation.

And yet — ask any regular blood donor what motivates them to come back and what it feels like to give — and they will share what donating blood means to them.

This feeling is matchless. It is not just pride. It is an inner feeling of contribution.

🚧

We are currently collecting our first blood donor stories.

We are reaching out to our Lions Club network across Delhi NCR — 7 clubs, hundreds of active members, many of whom have donated blood dozens of times.

The first real stories from our community will appear here soon.

If you are a blood donor — your story is exactly what this page needs.

Blood Donor Stories

Stories from our community and beyond.

"We are happy that we donated — we can still feel she is alive as her organs are helping someone live."

Donate Life India's Donor Voices page documents the words of families who have donated — in their own unedited language. One family member wrote about their experience:

"Even though my son was going to heaven, his organs could make life better for those on Earth."

Another, about a sister-in-law's kidney donation: "We are happy that we donated the kidney of my sister-in-law — we can still feel she is alive as her organs are helping someone live."

These are not eloquent speeches. They are honest words — typed, perhaps slowly, by people for whom grief and gratitude exist in the same breath. That is why they are more powerful than anything a writer could compose.

"I have donated 25 times. My only regret is that I didn't start sooner."

Regular blood donors — people who donate every 90 days, year after year — are the backbone of India's blood supply. They are not motivated by a one-time event or a friend's emergency. They have made blood donation a habit — as routine as an annual health check.

eRaktKosh and the Indian Red Cross document numerous regular donors across India who have crossed 20, 30, even 50 donations in their lifetime. Their consistent motivation, as recorded in donor interviews, is simple: it takes 30 minutes and costs nothing. The alternative — someone dying for want of blood — costs everything.

One documented regular donor from Delhi, who has given 25 times over 15 years, put it plainly: "My only regret is that I didn't start sooner."

"The first blood donor story from our Lions Club network will appear here."

We are reaching out to members of Lions Club Delhi Veg and our Delhi NCR zone network — people who have donated blood at our camps — and asking them to share their experience in their own words.

If you have donated blood at a Lions Club, Rotary Club, or Karma Samaj Foundation camp — we want to hear from you.
